Notes
Ken Eustace has a background in science and computer science education and
teaches a range of information systems and technology subjects in the School
of Information Studies and is the Internet technology program leader of the
Farrer Centre and program director of the ISPG.
The Farrer Centre IT research program includes Web interfaces to agricultural
research information; extension technology; collaborative electronic environments
and online communities as expressed through learning
communities MOO Project , AussieMOO
and the Silo Project (the Online Farm Community at http://silo.csu.edu.au/)
at Charles Sturt University. Mr Eustace has teaching and research experience
in the use of polysynchronous ICT communications in e-learning and continuing
professional development, electronic publishing, intranet development, project
management, HCI and computer supported cooperative work (CSCW). His PhD thesis
title is "Building Effective Learning Communities Online: An Ethnographic
Study".
His other research interests cover technology transfer for improved
productivity in agriculture, business, education. His current interests
include:
- e-commerce and the technology for secure transactions for SME's in regional
communities;
- online communities, intranet development and knowledge management;
- automated electronic publishing systems (SGML, XML, HTML Transit) for agricultural
research information;
- development of e-learning technologies frameworks in university teaching
practice;
- distributed client/server systems with ZOPE, Java, Python and MOO;
- human-computer interaction HCI and computer-supported cooperative work
(CSCW);
- qualitative research methodologies for HCI, CSCW and e-learning technologies
research.
Mr Eustace is a director of the Internet Special Projects Group at CSU; a member
of the CRC for Sustainable Rice Production; Australian Council for Computers in
Education (MACCE); the Association for Adjacent Education (MAAE), Geneva; CSU
